I am thrilled to find this discussion board. I've worked for Lionbridge since July and until just before Thanksgiving I had steady work (20 hours each week). I'm lucky now to see any hours at all because of the constant task shortages. Can anyone whose been working with them longer than myself tell me if this drought will end at some point? I'm assuming it will and completely understand that this type of work will have dry spells from time to time but was just wondering if shortages are the norm for this time of year - are there times of the year when work is more steady? It seemed as though the end of the month would be when I may experience some shortages but then everything returned to normal. I'm just trying to see if there is a pattern so I can plan a little better (if that's possible). I work full time as a teacher so this is more so to supplement my income and do some extras for the family but it does also help out when the unexpected comes up.

Hey Shanna! While I don't work for Lionbridge, I can say that it seems some people on this forum have friends who work for Lionbridge and Leapforce, and it seems that all of us Ads Evaluators are experiencing shortages. I have seen other forums where people spoke of a shortage this time last year for ZeroChaos at least, so I imagine this is the norm for this time of year. Seems like the beginning of the year just isn't a good time for ad rating.
Beyond that, I don't know for Lionbridge, but I thought I would at least impart that much to you! I hope the shortages end for all of us very soon! Good luck to you.

Thank you raterofthelostark for your reply. That helps me create a better financial plan for this time of year. Hopefully the summers are more plentiful which definitely works with my teaching schedule. In the meantime I will pray to the task gods that we can all get some work especially while Winter Storm Jonas has so many trapped inside - might as well make some money.

Shanna we are so glad to have you here . Thank you for stopping in! You are definitely not alone as far as shortages are concerned. From what we can gather there is some kind of "seasonal shortage" going on across the board. But in all honesty it will not last thank goodness! Many of us have been using this shortage time to seek out other WFH opportunities and others have just been waiting it out . One thing is for sure, I miss the extra $$$. It makes a huge difference even though it can be a tough routine to maintain with a FT job as well. Everyday more and more WFH folks have been rolling in so be ready for a great time, this forum is a great resource! I will be thinking of you as this winter storm rolls in, so please be safe and once again welcome!

I am so glad to have found this forum. I have been working for Lionbridge since July. My full-time job is as a school counselor, but I have found ad rater work to be a great way to supplement my income. I certainly am not rich from my educator salary:) I received an email about two weeks ago from Lionbridge telling me my volume was low. I found this ironic since there have been significant task shortages for the past month. Since it is impossible to actually reach someone in customer service at Lionbridge or communicate with any supervisors, I completed and submitted the Google form that they suggested that you complete when you experience task shortages. I submitted this form last week, and I haven't heard anything from Lionbridge, and the task shortages continue to persist. Has anyone else received an email telling them that they have low volume? I am concerned that they will fire me, even though I can't really see how this is my fault since it seems there has been task shortages across the board. Thanks to whoever started this forum. It has been super helpful to read other people's experiences!

Actually, I have a degree in Psychology and thought about being a counselor but I decided to be a banker in the end...random I know hahaha. Anyway, I want to ease your mind! There are many WFH companies, the main ones are Lionbridge, Leapforce and Zerochaos. All of them have been VERY slow lately and we assume it is just a seasonal shortage that comes around this time of year. I work for ZeroChaos and they have not said a word. We have to submit a form nearly every week stating why we didn't meet the minimum hours. This is extremely frustrating but we aren't to blame at all so don't worry one bit , it wont count against you considering everyone is in the same boat. The rumor is that things will return to normal in February so we will see! Now is the time to weather the storm if you will. It is also a great time to see what else is out there! Financially it has been tough for me but you have found an amazing support system and we will make it through together! Thank you so much for stopping in Emily!

So, I got an email from Lionbridge, they're asking me to apply on their site...I'm not sure whether or not I should say I'm still working for ZeroChaos. I'd like them to not reject me for having other rater work, but I also think the experience is relevant..? I dunno! Any suggestions?

They may have changed, but check the bottom of the invite email from LB. When I first started working from home, I applied for LF, Appen, and LB at the same time. All invited me to test, but LB specifically said they did not want me to apply even if I tested with either of the others. That said, those were all for search engine eval positions. I wouldn't think it would matter if you are AQR with ZC but who knows at this point?!

You can't work as a web site or ads rater for another Google vendor or for a Bing vendor while employed at this ZC job: workfromhomeworld.boards.net/post/1144There are exceptions: you can work as a Social Media Evaluator for Appen or LB. You do need to ask for an OK from ZC before accepting any other sort of ratings job. There is evidence that Google and MS vendors share the names of new hires, so important to check before starting training!

Do you have a quick answer as to what company clickworkers rate for and if there is any conflict?

Do you have a quick answer as to what company clickworkers rate for and if there is any conflict? Ummm, there are 1099 clickwork ops at places like Mturk and Clickworker. Do you mean rating companies? I only know of Google Ads raters program, and there's Appen and Lionbridge which both hire for both Bing and Google. There are job leads, including some by category at www.workplacelikehome.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?9-Work-At-Home-Job-Leads. (You will have to register to view the forum.)

Do you have a quick answer as to what company clickworkers rate for and if there is any conflict? I forgot this link, it is for task type jobs for microworkers: www.workplacelikehome.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?351-Task-Jobs Again, as for rating jobs (which are not really microworker jobs), you can't be an ads or web site rater for two companies even if one is Google and the other is Bing, etc. (Nor can you rate Bing results for 2 co.s or rate Google for 2 co.s) Too much conflict of interest. Also be aware that Appen and LB will make you an IC for what is really an employee position. You will feel that hit to the wallet at tax time! I know you can be a Social Media Evaluator at Appen or LB while employed as a rater at ZC. Still, please make sure you get permission from ZC before beginning training, so you don't get fired! If you are a rater for any of these companies, you should be fine doing some microwork at places like Mturk, but it never hurts to ask first.

Good evening everyone!! I was wondering how everyone is doing in terms of attaining tasks. I teach full time and am not at liberty to check my computer throughout the day so I probably miss the sporadic bursts to tasks that may be loaded in the system. This evening I was able to log on early (around 5:45) and was able to work an entire hour - the only one I've been able to work this entire week. I plan to stalk my laptop this entire weekend to get any more hours that I can but honestly I was much more optimistic about a month ago that this shortage would be ending sometime in the near future. Does anyone have any insight whatsoever regarding how close we may be to this shortage being over? Are there better times of the day or better days of the week to check for tasks? Thanks in advance to any feedback provided.
