I saw in the social media evaluator job that they wanted social media users of all ages... so my question is does that mean my teenage son could possibly do this job? If you have had this job have you been 15+ or what do you guys think?

I was invited to take a pre application screening for the crowdsourcing project. I am already nervous since I cannot retake the test. I will take it, I'm afraid if I don't do well, they won't ever offer me another pre screening assessment. I have dyslexia, and there is a spelling test. I just noticed that. I know just to be relaxed and take the test. My dyslexia, transposes what I read, and what I spell. I'll stay positive.

I took the spelling test about 2 years ago, so I'm not sure if it has changed, but I don't think it's timed. So just take your time.

I think I did not pass the test, I was signing the contract and tried to submit it. It would not let me submit it. Is that how they give you the results? Either way I don't have an offer.

Anyone know what Falcon Crowdsourcing is about? I was assigned to that program. All I can tell you is about 2 weeks ago I got one $10.00 task. I scored 100% on the task but have not gotten a second task. I think it is very hit or miss and unless it changes you can't count on much income. I have not asked to be removed because I am hoping it is a foot in the door with Appen and if I do a good job I will get more work. There is a Falcon project that is per hour but this one is pay by task completed.

This is interesting discussion. Finishing 3rd yr @zc today, have applied to be a web search evaluator at Appen. Is this for Google? It didn't say but figured it is.
I did web site evals for Google many years ago before switching to ads. Web sites was boring compared to ads but everything went fine. Was not aware of being closely monitored. I knew they checked my work, but they didn't get on my back or anything. They pretty much left me alone, just like ads. Now I'm nervous! I did LF during break from ads a few years ago. Quit bc admin always on my back. Hoping Appen will be good. Auditing? Oh my.

Edit: Never mind, Appen has technical support that actually RESPONDS to people so I got this sorted out! Weird!

I just wanted to let people on the "we'll will get back to you" list know Appen actually gets back to you. I took the pre qualification exam months ago. This week I got a chance at qualifying for 1 hour a day project. While I was waiting for test result on that project I got a second offer for max of 20 hours a week(and passed that test). I currently do 20 hours of lionbridge. Because of the nature of these jobs, lack of tasks, fear of being fired, ect. I am so excited to have options to work on. I am hopping on a good week I can do 20 of lionbridge and 27 of Appen. It will be nice not having to do as many MTurk survey and UHRS hits. I an so excited I ranted but I wanted to let everyone know don't give up just because it is taking a while for them to get back to you.

I will be starting the 20 hour a week position soon too if all goes well. I'm also looking forward to no longer needing Mturk since between this and ZC I'll actually be able to work 40 hours a week (if I decide to...)

I've received emails from recruiters, for several projects. I will try to qualify in a week or two. I know their tests are more complex. I blew the crowdsourcing test, I began to panic while I was taking it. It wasn't difficult, it was timed and I could not see the timer. I'm not sure if it was timed or not, but I panicked. My dyslexia messed me up--it effects more the spelling. Anyway I'm not upset now LOL last week was a different story. Good to hear Appen is more responsive, like a real company. I'm having family drama stuff, that I keep getting pulled into by one of my quirkier relatives. I would rather test when I am relaxed and not under pressure. I will try, I have a web evaluation test I need to take, and a recruiter contacted me about the social media evaluator, I needed to clarify my questionnaire. I was contacted about a transcribing project, I don't think I am qualified. It is more promising to see there are more opportunities for projects and that you can get help. Have a great day everyone Save

It seems more like editing not so much transcribing bc "suggested text" comes up in a box and that is what you correct. I think. have never done transcription, so maybe this will be OK. Have to take a test to qualify. AP likes to give you tests, that's for sure. It's 47 cents australian, that's $0.36 american per utterance. edit or transcribe at least 2000 utterances a week. project runs 12 weeks. 1099, meaning big chunk will go to taxes. I learned that the hard way a few years ago.
