Anyone else come across the First Rate Response data entry work from home job ads? I found several ads from this (mysterious) company in multiple cities across the country, after doing a Google search for online data entry jobs. The job post sounded amazing (and a bit too good to be true lol). I did try to search for First Rate Response reviews from other users; however, my search really didn't yield much info about the company.
The job ad basically described your dream online data entry position:
- Good Money - $20+/hr
- Consumer Research Data Entry Work (which was a clue that this ad was probably for a survey panel)
- A list of job requirements to make this sound like an authentic work from home position
I decided to apply, and was taken to a page with a few questions to answer about myself. These were just general questions that could be on nearly any job application. However, the page DID NOT ask any personal information like DOB, Social, etc. (I would never give that info out online). After answering the questions, I was taken to step two (to complete the application process). Step two took me to a page with several survey sites, with instructions to join at least six.
In short, First Rate Response didn't actually have any data entry jobs - nor any positions at all. Instead, the company earns referral money from referring new members to survey panels, as well as selling your name and email address to advertisers. After I came across this scam, I quickly noticed that several other companies were trying to work this same racket. They set up (similar) fake data entry job ads, but were actually just recruiting people to join survey panels. Now I love online surveys - and have made thousands of dollars from them - however, I like to know that I am joining a survey site and not be deceived. I just wanted to offer this heads up to others.
