Hi guys, has anyone had to attend a mandatory appointment with the UE before receiving the benefit? I applied and didnt receive anything yet, but I received a letter to go to the career center to attend some BS to "learn" how to build a resume and to practice interviews or something like this....gosh NY makes so complicate to receive anything, I guess we have too many people here...lol....anyways I`m trying to find out how to avoid this waste of my time... A few years ago, I went through the same thing when I filed UI for the first time. I was glad I attended though.

I filed my UE online. Then I got the email from the office telling me to bring my ID and the separation letter. It seems like the process is a little obsolete here. I wonder whether ZC sends out an official letter of separation by mail. I am also in Georgia.... I filed on Aug 1. Did the ID check . Got monetary determination. Still waiting on the second determination... Wonder how long this will take? Have you heard anything more? This process is so different than the other states I have lived in.... Seems behind the times! I filed mine on Aug. 3 and got the determination. Yesterday I received a letter from DOL, which said " Your unemployment insurance claim shown above cannot be paid at this time" (I claimed it on Aug 5). Not sure what's going on at this moment. I'll go or contact them about the letter in a few days. I hope we receive the pay soon!

Did you guys have to provide paystubs for unemployment? I did not have to provide pay stubs-just Zerochaos' information. I'm sure unemployment requested copies of paystubs from them.

Quick question. Is anyone receiving unemployment from ZC WHILE working as an independent contractor/1099 worker/freelancing? Is that even allowed?

Quick question. Is anyone receiving unemployment from ZC WHILE working as an independent contractor/1099 worker/freelancing? Is that even allowed? The short answer aid every state has its own rules but generally while 1099 income doesn't qualify you necessarily for unemployment if you apply for unemployment you have to certify every week as to what you earned that week from any source and it can potentially cut off or reduce your benefits for that week. Also states differentiate between self employed and free lancing and some states will look at IC and define it as employment. Bottom line it's a risk. At minimum you can anonymously ask. Glad right now I am out of this. Testing. NTA. Etc. I was able to up my hours at gym as a part time dance Zumba teacher and got a weekend gig at Sephora. So now I don't have to choose between things like exercise or work as they are combined. Both are employee jobs not 1099 which I won't do and I make as much, sometimes more, but with more reliability and less stress. I realize I have the option outside home that others don't so I hope everyone gets the best fit for them and gets what works for them.

Hello all. I'm not doing rating any more. Instead, I'm at an editing/proofreading company that pays $15-20/hour, depending on the project. Please check Glassdoor reviews of companies before you take a job. I was offered a job editing articles for science journals (I have a Bachelors in Chemistry) but when I looked up the company, the science editors there had given the company such poor reviews that I had to say no. This weekend, I'm off to Oregon to see the total eclipse of the sun.
Edit: I have my avatar placed on another one... have no idea why.

Cynthia, I changed the default avatar back to the faceless egg, and that got the anime boy out from under your avatar.

I was an editor/proofreader in my previous life and would love to get back into it. Thanks!

Ugh, my state has a pretty high minimum base salary requirement for UI. Since I started ZC in the winter, I missed the requirement by less than $200. I'm in search of something that is flexible and has a low minimum hour requirement. It's hard with two children at home.

I would love to but I just didn't want my "hi all" message moved to a new "editing" section that no-one reads. So feel free to direct message me for details...

I would love to but I just didn't want my "hi all" message moved to a new "editing" section that no-one reads. So feel free to direct message me for details... Most of these company specific forums don't have sub forums, so important information tends to get lost as the threads grow. That's the reason for the new sections on the WFH Opportunities board. You're welcome to start a new "Editing" section there. Some of the threads have over 2000 views, so it's likely it will be seen. Also, it could save you from having to answer PMs from multiple people and would make the information easily available to everyone.

Do you need to send a copy of the SS card because you changed/need update your name or address? If so, I would fax instead of emailing. Since I have nothing to change, I won't do anything.

I don't have to change anything either.... I just thought it was an unsecured way to ask for social security number.... Thought it may have been a scam.............. Paranoid lol....

I received it too, and thought it was odd, but did have to make a change, since my middle name was not in their record and appears on my SS card. - Still feel a bit uncomfortable about it!
