Hello fellow WFHW members! This thread will be for all members who simply wish to introduce themselves to the community. By having an introduction thread we can hopefully get to know each other on a little deeper level, so don't be shy and say hi! Share whatever you are comfortable with, and be careful because you might just make some WFH friends!
I will start this thread out with some details on myself....but where to begin!? Well, over the past 5 years I have been completely intrigued and overly excited about the idea of working from home. I guess you could say I have become enamored by the idea of being able to exit the "rat race", if you will. The freedom and luxury of working from brings me great joy, and I have been blessed to do so for some time! I love researching and learning about new online opportunities and more than anything I like sharing these opportunities with others, which is why I am here! I want to help others feel the same joy, passion and freedom that comes from a great work from home opportunity. I am here to assist you as together we build an amazing WFH community! Which, as a result, will create one of the best resources for WFH information, filled with invaluable experiences and insights. But I could never do it without you, so I can't thank you enough for being here!
Other than my absurd passion for WFH opportunities, I enjoy a good cup of coffee or five . I reside in the frozen tundra of St. Paul, MN and during the day I do my best to be one of the best bankers around! I still collect baseball cards despite being over twice the age of a normal collector. I love to jog and just this past summer I completed my first marathon. I have a degree in Psychology which is why I have such an innate desire to help others and, get such joy from doing so. Although I am not that good at it, I do enjoy drawing abstract creations when I have the time. Helping others achieve their dreams has always been one of my biggest goals in life, and if I could do anything I would love to start my own business that does just that. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me, you guys are what make this place great! But, now it is your turn , welcome to WFHW!

Hello to you, Admin, and the rest! I suppose I should throw my intro out here, since I feel like I'll be spending a good amount of time on this forum. I started with ZeroChaos late last year, in an effort to get away from the student worker job I had had even after finishing my degree. My degree is in English, as I am a somewhat aspiring writer. My ambitions are a bit muddled at this point, as I am a little lost on where exactly to direct my creativity. I would love to do so towards a business, so that I could have the financial stability to pursue other artistic efforts like the adventure fantasy novel I've always wanted to write. I enjoy working out, playing tons of video games, and chilling with my SO and Netflix. I am also very passionate about comedy, and hope to one day make something of that with a YouTube channel of some sort! Admin, that's some really interesting stuff! I for one am glad you have taken such a liking to finding WFH opportunities--I have come to very much enjoy it. I don't currently have a job outside of ZC, but am applying furiously to many of your suggestions! I sort of dread the thought of a 40 hour job taking up my life and keeping me from home/deciding my schedule for me, so I am super into the idea of you and all of us creating this resource for ourselves and others! I'm sure we aren't the only ones who enjoy working from home, and people deserve happiness. Kudos on your marathon! I was a long distance runner in high school, but have only ever done a half marathon to date. I also did the Spartan Race, which was really fun, except it was SUPER cold--fell on an unlucky day for us Coloradans haha. Again, thanks for all that you are doing, and let's keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for your kind words raterofthelostark and honestly I am in a similar boat myself as far as sorting out what direction I want to head in. One thing is for sure, if we keep our options open and pursue our passions we will discover just what it is we are seeking! I am so glad to have rating pals like yourself . I know it is kind of random but have you ever tried to self publish some of your works? I bet you are a very talented and writer and www.smashwords.com allows you to sell titles at the price you wish for FREE. They publish your works on itunes, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and many more merchants. Kind of neat and I know some who have done very well with this but, perhaps you have heard of these options . Anyways, congrats on the Spartan Race I would love to do one myself they look like so much fun and definitely not for the faint of heart! It will be so much fun to see what happens with this place but I just want to send you a big thanks for being a part of everything! I know years from now folks will stumble in here and be able to use your experiences in a very valuable way!

Hey cool! That site looks pretty interesting, I'll definitely have to look into that. Thanks for sharing that with me!
Yeah seriously, I hope raters can find this place just to know they aren't alone. I can't remember where it said this, I think maybe it was in instructions for rating landing pages only...? But it said something like, "discuss with your fellow raters", and I was so confused. Like was that sort of thing encouraged in the past, was there a way to do that more easily that they just got rid of? The instructions did seem kind of old just in that the overall tone was much different than other task instructions.
Anyway, just wanted to share that because it was strange haha. Definitely something I would bring up around our proverbial water cooler.

I completely agree about the instructions! They seemed so outdated and here and there when I look through them some of what they discuss just baffles me... Perhaps things (systems/methods) were different years ago but you would think they would take the time to update their information at least. If we are making the pay per hour that we are, I am sure they have enough time, money and resources to do it. If you compare ZC to Leapforce or Appen/Lionbridge, the differences are pretty substantial when it comes to the focus they place on updating systems and information. I was confused by quite a few references within the instructions and to this day I still am hahaha. Now I just hope people can find us besides just by looking through the comments in one WFH article. It is pretty amazing how many have found us thus far, I never expected this large of an outpouring! I think with all things in life, it is just so good to know your never alone

Well I will go ahead and introduce myself as well. I have been working from home for the last 2.5 years. It was kind of by accident...I am an attorney and was laid off from my job in a large law firm in the Boston area. It was actually a blessing because at the time I had a 10 month old son, my husband worked crazy hours and still does, and I worked a 10 hour day with a 3 hour commute (and that was on a good day, assuming no snow, rain, sun glare...). I was worn out and stressed out and felt like I never saw my son or my husband and had absolutely no free time. So when I got laid off I swore I would not do a commute like that again. I had a background in journalism and as an editor before I ever went to law school, so I ended up first getting a freelance legal editor job working from home. I then began looking for other work from home jobs to supplement my income. And 2.5 years...and one more son later lol...I am still working from home. But unfortunately since Thanksgiving things have been really slow both with my freelance clients and with my Zerochaos job, so I am doing my best right now to market myself with the freelance editing and find other sites to supplement. (So if anyone sees anything please let me know!) Nice to talk to some other work from home people since I don't know anyone else who does it!

Well, something late, but here is my story, I'm from Asturias,Spain, one link in englishhhhh for you if you want to know something about my home youtu.be/lIxD8qwN880, and one day my husband (teacher)was boring, and decide to put some salt in our life, and said me, what if I said you that we can go to life for 5 years to USA? I said(literally) what are you talking about? ?and in only two months, we packed all that we can, with our two kids 6 and 4 years and decide that could be an immense experience for them, and we were right. No money can pay what my children are learning, is the best invest of our life. I can not say that it has not been difficult, the first year is horrible, the adaptation is painful. We lived in a very different culture to yours, we like to go out, meet people ... we are very social and now live in Gastonia, North Carolina, where you can not go anywhere without a car. Here people live for their work, we live in our community for 1 year and 6 months, and we know very few people, and we are 200 apartments. But I love this country, job opportunities are huge, for example working from home ......

Love your story anabiblio! I spent a semester abroad in Florence and got to travel all over Europe, I loved it so much, but I agree it is a totally different lifestyle and I can't imagine just picking up my family and moving to a new and such a different country (though sometimes I would really like to because sometimes I'm not so thrilled with this country and our lifestyle either). I can see how our culture must be very isolating. You're right, us Americans don't really socialize with even our neighbors, which is pretty sad in a way. Me personally I live way out in the woods because I didn't even want any neighbors. Well I hope you are happy being here. So is the plan that you stay for 5 years and then move back to Spain?

Well, our plan is stay if we can, but we need sponsor for that, maybe we can try Canada, I love that country...or Europe, Norway, London, Germany....I don't know, the time will say. Ohhhh I'm very happy on USA, I only miss a lot moving around more...maybe we need to move to a bigger city.

Kind of late to the thread here, but I'm in the same boat as you, raterofthelostark. I am also an English major who works for ZC primarily while looking for writing work. I kind of do a little editing work here and there as well, but ZC has been my primary source of income for the last few months. I'm hoping to find a WFH writing opportunity at some point, but a lot of the jobs out there seem to be content mills that focus more on pumping out quantity over quality for a pretty pathetic amount of pay. Anyways, if you ever want to talk to another English major looking to WFH, I'm always down to chat!

Yeah pretty much, lots of content creating jobs that pay pretty terribly and not much else unless you have years of experience in professional editing, which college apparently doesn't count towards. Go figure! I currently work for thehoth.com as well. It's article writing for very different topics. The work is come and go, but I got about $150 for around 22 hours of work, which is super helpful for me. It's roughly $12 an hour, so if that's something you'd be into, totally check it out. It's my first actual paid writing gig, and while the pay isn't like super fantastic, its miles and above the other content creating jobs I found throughout my search. Your status is awesome and you should feel awesome.

I'm into becoming some sort of adventure fantasy writer myself, which is progressing at a pretty slow rate, but y'know...progress is progress. I also do poetry and short fiction.

I live in close proximity to quite a few big name comic companies, so I'm hoping to land an internship or something at some point, but until then, I'm really content with any kind of writing. Most of my experience is journalistic. It's definitely a tough industry to be in right now though. I've considered taking some extra courses in grant writing just so I can land some work in my field
